The Position

 

Based in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, or Nevada, the Western Region Project Manager is generally responsible for management of the organization’s projects West of the Mississippi River and potentially Carribbean and other near-shore projects. The Western Region Project Manager offices remotely and travels accordingly to meet the demands of the role.

 

Chief responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Support Service Operations as required but focused on those located west of the Mississippi River.
  • Support company business development efforts as necessary with proposal development.
  • Assist with building estimates for proposed projects within the assigned geographic area.
  • Assist with preparation of proposals for project pursuits in collaboration with estimating and engineering.
  • Perform assessments of client facilities and provide solutions and proposals.
  • Provide monthly reporting of project costs, revenue, and forecasted expenses.
  • Provide weekly reporting of project status, risks, milestones, and client issues.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures to achieve company goals and support the company’s Core Values.
  • Coordinate with project team and subcontractors for execution of contracts; oversee personnel and quality control, profitability, and professionalism in the completion of projects.
  • Manage project rollouts and facilities projects.
  • Manage internal IT projects and rollout of IT software tooling upgrades for the company, coordinating with IT Manager.

 

Specific Project Management duties include:

 

  • Serve as liaison with contractors, subcontractors, internal sales team, and internal project team.
  • Create project schedules to include eqpt delivery, electrical subcontractor efforts, and startup/testing activities.
  • Maintain weekly schedules for projects to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Coordinate onsite efforts to include directing and organizing electrical subcontractor work, responding to field issues and ensuring applicable codes and regulations are followed.
  • Ensure all installations meet applicable codes and regulations.
  • Document issues and/or risks impacting the project schedule or quality of work and developing alternate solutions to resolve any issues or mitigate identified risks.
  • Plan and supervise onsite startup and/or commissioning of company supplied equipment.
  • Plan, conduct, and document onsite Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for company supplied equipment.

 

Specific Preconstruction and Sales duties include:

 

  • Perform pre-job site visits to gather data for developing estimates and installation scopes of work.
  • Review plans and designs in order to confirm technical accuracy and identify any potential discrepancies or risks to the project. Create alternate solutions for any discrepancies or risks identified.
  • Review proposals and plans to ensure accurate pricing and gaps in the scope of work.

 

The Successful Candidate

 

The successful Service and Special Projects Advisor demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage a growing portion of the organization’s project and service work. These competencies include, but are not limited to:

 

  • 7+ years of project management experience in the commercial/industrial electrical trade.
  • Background in power systems and power systems rollout preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively with critical projects.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and common web applications.
  • Positive mental attitude.
  • Willingness to travel 20-30% as required by the demands of the role. (generally two to three days per week)
  • Exemplary work ethic.
  • Desire to make an impact and grow with an organization.
  • Technical knowledge of the electrical trade and power systems.
